Akhanda Hatha Yoga®
Akhanda is a holistic yoga teaching approach. In this class we will explore a balance of yin/yang postures, and other diverse aspects of yoga such as pranayama, mantra, relaxation, visualisation and meditation; plus there is a balance between structural cues and inner inquiry so that students can explore their own breath, body and experience within a range of safe movement.
The Classical Kundalini class integrates postures, oscillating movements, Tantric Bija mantras, visualisation of the chakras and pranayama techniques to clear the subtle energy passageways (nadis) and their junction points (chakras) promoting clarity, vitality and peace.
Hatha-Ratha class is a sequence of moderate postures practiced in a slow and mindful way in conjunction with the sonorous Brahmaree Pranayama (honey bee breath). The intention in this class is to lenghten the breath in the postures with sound. It emphasises the postures that influence the pineal and pituitary glands of the brain helping to bring the mind to a calm and uplifted state. It is excellent for anyone wishing to release stress and increase pranic awareness through sound, movement and meditation.
Restorative Yoga is a form of yoga that seeks to achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation with the aid of props. The use of props makes it easier to maintain balance and enables students to go more deeply into the asanas. Asanas are held upto 10 – 15 minutes allowing the body to rest and heal. This practice is healing to the nervous system and puts the body into the relaxation response so that it can accomplish cellular repair and healing that happens when the body is in a state of deep relaxation.
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with the asanas (postures) being held for longer periods of time. Applying moderate stress to the connective tissues – the tendons, fascia and ligaments – the aim is to improve circulation in the joints and to improve flexibility. The practice is designed to improve the flow of subtle energy in the body in order to optimise organ health, improve the immune system and promote emotional well being.
Yoga Nidra is an ancient tantric method where the mind and body is in deep relaxation. A single hour of Yoga Nidra is as restful as four hours of conventional sleep. This workshop is for anyone interested in relaxation and meditation, whether you are brand new or experienced in meditation. You will be fully guided.
