7 Day Yoga Retreat Amorgos Island, Greece

7 Day Yoga Retreat, Amorgos Island, Greece

Thursday 20 – Thursday 27 September 2018,

£940 pp shared room / £1,250 pp single room

Treat yourself to this blissful 7 day yoga retreat on the magical Greek island of Amorgos.

We understand that life can be busy and stressful so this yoga retreat is a perfect opportunity to take care of self, replenish, rejuvenate, relax and to have time to just be.  Take the time to honour your body mind and soul.

Amorgos is a paradise in which to connect in with nature and the sea.  Allow yourself to be soothed by yoga in such a stunningly beautiful location.  You will have plenty of time to explore the island.

As with all our retreats you will have two teachers so be assured of our full attention.  We hold a strong space for transformation, presence and healing.  Our retreats always contain creativity, laughter, fun and wisdom.  All levels of experience are very welcome.

Our package includes an island tour introducing you to the most important sites on the island. We will visit:

  • The 1,000 year old Monastery of Panagia Chozoviotissa, built in the cliffs 300 meters above the sea.  Home to the miraculous icon of the same name, it is one of the most remarkable Monasteries in Greece.
  • The picturesque capital of the island, Chora.  Chora has 40 churches and 12 windmills, beautiful squares and houses of the 17th century. A labyrinth of typical Cycladic alleys leads to the Kastro (castle) built on the top of an impressive rock.
  • The Monastery of Saint George Valsamitis is built upon the ruins of an ancient water oracle. Lalon Idor – in English “water that speaks” – was one of the most important oracles in antiquity, along with the oracles of Delphi and Dodoni. Coming from all parts of Greece, visitors would find in its waters mental clarity and answers to their questions.  The sacred spring still runs in the Monastery today.  This is the female monastery with a nun in residence looking after the space and welcoming visitors.

We will have the opportunity to visit local herbalist Vangelis Vassalos of Iama Herbs & Treatments.  The island of Amorgos has over 600 species of herbs and aromatic plants. The use of the medicinal plants of Amorgos is part of the healing traditions of the island since ancient times.

This retreat will be hosted at the Five Star Aegialis Hotel & Spa.  To book please contact Jackie at info@swanseayoga.co.uk, complete the booking form  and a non-refundable deposit of £300 is payable.  Full balance due by 30 June 2018.  Monthly payment plans are available, please ask for details.  See below for cancellation terms.

If you wish to travel with a non-yoga guest we can arrange that for you.  The price for a non-yoga guest shared room is £800 (excludes yoga practice but includes day trips). There is plenty to do for non-yoga participants including hiking, scuba diving, cookery courses, pottery courses, trips to the beach.

You may travel as a group or solo but it is guaranteed that you will meet like minded people on retreat.  Retreats are perfect if you are travelling alone, you have the choice to spend time with others or enjoy your own space if you wish.

This yoga retreat is led by two experienced yoga teachers, Julie Bladon (Jayadevi) and Jackie Dorrian (Jagdambe Ma), who will teach yoga classes in a variety of styles including Akhanda Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Yin Yoga, Sivananda Yoga and Yoga Nidra. This mixed programme is perfect if you are starting your yogic journey and wish to explore different styles or if you are more experienced and wish to immerse yourself in your practice.

During the 7 night retreat, each day will consist of two yoga classes, meditation plus an island day trip and visit to a local herbalist.

Fantastic retreat.  Julie & Jackie have made this retreat so special.  We particularly like the fact that we now have a home practice to take away with us” – Amorgos Yoga Retreat 2016

I can’t quite believe it is a year ago since we were on Amorgos enjoying a week of yoga on this exceptionally beautiful Greek island. The deep blue sea, the colour of the sky and the mountain opposite the yoga studio, all became part of the yoga experience! Breath-taking sunrises and sunsets, amazing swimming, beautiful walking along the many paths where you can smell the wild sage and thyme are some of the memories one takes away at the end of the retreat and help you feel more connected to nature. For me,  practicing yoga has always been a very special experience and  practicing on Amorgos has made it more special. It is difficult to put in words the quality of the light on the island that changes all the time. I still remember vividly doing the morning practice and lying on the floor watching above me the colour of the sky changing as the sun was rising above the mountain opposite the studio and then standing up and looking at the deep blue  sea across the bay! Magical experience! We all felt blessed to have experienced all this during the yoga retreat.  I was really happy to hear that Julie and Jackie are planning to do another retreat on Amorgos in 2018!  The accommodation is fantastic, typical to the local architecture, the people are kind and friendly, and the food so yummy!” Amorgos Yoga Retreat 2016

Thank you for a truly wondrous weekend in every way and most importantly the enormous benefits have lasted so well.  We would love to join you again next year so please book us two places.” – Summer Yoga Retreat 2017

My favourite thing: The Lost Kriya! And the Yoga Nidra in pyjamas and the food and the stream and having a pot of tea and cake in the afternoon in the peaceful house.  Also learning about Kali – basically the whole weekend (sorry too many favourite things to pick just one!)” – Summer Yoga Retreat 2017

Enjoyable, enlightening, peaceful” – Summer Yoga Retreat 2017

Really loved the space created.  Particularly appreciated the suggestions for daily practice which I will take away.  Enjoyed the discussion in the studio in some sessions and Friday morning interactive session excellent, liked having time to ask about postures and learning from other people’s questions in the group.  Thank you Thank you Thank you” – Aloha Yoga Retreat Spain 2015

The place & people were very enjoyable & a good mix of personalities.  You two have been very accessible and welcoming.” - Aloha Yoga Retreat Spain 2015

Thank you Julie and Jackie for a wonderful week, full of joy and fun.  It has been very interesting to experience different types of yoga practice and different teaching styles.  I feel I have learned a lot and have been convinced that I can include daily yoga practice into my usual routine.  You are both excellent inspirational teachers and I appreciate your hard work planning the sessions and all the smooth organisation.  Thank you again for your patience and kindness.” - Aloha Yoga Retreat Spain 2015
